Following the debut of several new, immersive culinary offerings at the Andaz Mayakoba Resort in Riviera Maya, comes the second annual Mayakoba Masters of Food, Wine & Golf by American Express. From April 20-23, guests are invited to indulge in a slew of epicurean experiences that include interactive lunches, dinners, wine and spirit tastings, and culinary demonstrations from internationally-acclaimed chefs. Moreover, tickets come with entry in the “Mayakoba Cup” golf tournament, a two-day event that takes place on the resort’s award-winning El Camaleon Golf Club.
To kick the event off will be a taco extravaganza where each guest chef will have the opportunity to present his or her interpretation of the taco, as inspired by their homeland and heritage. With influences ranging from Korean, Italian, and Argentinian, this party will have a unique taco for every flavor preference. Think wild boar tacos from Mexico, short rib taco with black garlic from France, and blueberry BBQ pork from the United States. A selection of innovative cocktails, Mexican wines, and local craft beer will be flowing throughout the night as well.
Highlights of the four-day Mayakoba Masters of Food, Wine & Golf festival include: a special clinic by former Golf Pro, Lorena Ochoa; “Mayakoba Cup” Awards Lunch at El Pueblito at Mayakoba where the celebrity chefs will share their different BBQ skills; cooking classes with the chefs at the El Pueblito Cooking School; a closing party where guests can meet and interact with the weekend’s celebrity chefs at Banyan Tree Mayakoba’s MK Blue; spa treatments for those not golfing and more.
We are very excited to be hosting our second annual Masters of Food, Wine & Golf. With world-class accommodations, award winning golf courses, international chefs, exceptional cuisine, and plenty of wine and spirit masters to guide our guests in the best food and drink pairings around, this festival is guaranteed to top last years. Specially-curated events will showcase the culinary and cultural bounty of Mexico and shine a spotlight on the Riviera Maya in particular. – Carl Emberson, VP of Operations and Marketing for Mayakoba
This year marks the festival’s first ever auction fundraiser in collaboration with the Lorena Ochoa Foundation, whose mission is to support marginalized children to reach a balanced life through educational programs, sports, healthy living, and self-esteem seminars.
