New luxury-class cabins offer size and support of a major airline carrier with the feel and amenities of private jet travel
Cabins aboard Etihad’s Airbus A380 aircraft have received a major upgrade. The airline, in conjunction with aircraft-charter specialist Chapman Freeborn, have added Residence and First Apartment cabins to long list of advantages offered by the charter’s premier point-to-point service.
Thought long-haul flights, luxury and privacy were a thing of myth? Not so, for those traveling within the Residence cabins, where a 125-square-foot, 3-room suite swaths passengers in rich leather sofas, in-flight entertainment on a 32-inch flat-screen, and an adjoining bedroom with a double bed and en suite bathroom.
Still not impressed? Each residence also comes with a butler, private chef, and chauffeur service to and from the airport.
For those traveling alone, the First Apartment cabins may be smaller in size, but they don’t skimp on the luxuries. each cabin features a Poltrona Frau leather armchair and ottoman (the latter unfolding to form an 81-inch bed when it is time to retire), a 24-inch flat-screen television with over 750 hours of programming, a small refrigerator, a vanity, and access to the First Class bathroom with shower.
Currently, Etihad offers this level of luxury living at 36,000 feet on daily flights from Abu Dhabi to London, Sydney and, beginning December 1, to New York. Concierge flight arrangements are then available from Chapman Freeborn aboard private jet or other connector flights.
