Sanctuary Cap Cana and Punta Espada Golf Course host fundraising tournament to benefit charity of one of baseball’s biggest stars.
For the eighth year, the David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic will once again give baseball fans the chance to play alongside one of the game’s best, and for a good cause. The charity tournament, which benefits the David Ortiz Children’s Fund, is taking place December 3-6 on the greens of the Punta Espada Golf Course at DR’s beautiful Sanctuary Cap Cana resort.
Since 2007, the David Ortiz Children’s Fund has worked directly with MassGeneral Hospital for Children and the World Pediatric Project to help disadvantaged youth living in New England and the Dominican Republic received much needed health care they would otherwise not have access to.
The tournament also gives those who want to be in the same league with the big boys a chance to play alongside some of their sports heroes. Past participants have included Mariano Rivera, Alex Rodriguez, Bill Russell and Bobby Orr, as well as big names in the entertainment business.
VIP packages include three-nights’ accommodation in a double-occupancy suite; a welcome reception; a practice round; the tournament round, where each foursome is paired with a celebrity; access to the event’s hospitality suite serving breakfast, lunch, and an open bar; a pairing party; and the closing dinner with awards presentation.
The packages also grant entrance to all social events for each golfer’s nonplaying companion. Prices for foursomes, twosomes, and solo players are $20,000; $15,000; and $7,500, respectively, and $6,500 for solo players without a guest.
The celebrity tournament has raised $1.25 million dollars for the David Ortiz Children’s Fund to date.
