From French Accented Luxury in St. Barth’s to Magical Moments in Mexico, the Caribbean Shone Brightly Among Celebrities This Holiday Season

When you’re Pippa Middleton, the world is your oyster when it comes to ringing in the New Year. Returning to one of her family’s favorite, tropical haunts, Prince George’s famous aunt chose the tiny island of Saint Barthélemy to celebrate the start of 2016.
Middleton was in excellent company during her holiday foray on the French West Indie island: McCartney, George Lucas, Ellen DeGeneres, Kendall Jenner, Harry Styles, Marc Jacobs, Robin Thicke, Leonardo DiCaprio and Justin Bieber are just a few of the other household names who chose to celebrate the ball drop from the posh, tropical paradise.
With no shortage of private yachts (Prince reportedly gave an impromptu, floating concert from the decks of a yacht anchored near Gustavia), well-appointed sailboats and a seemingly endless list of impossibly luxurious resorts and villas, making the decision to channel your inner celebrity and visit St. Barth’s is easy. Deciding where to stay may prove more difficult.
In the past, the Middleton clan has opted to make the uber exclusive Eden Rock Resort their home away from home. Owned by the family of Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, the Eden Rock was also the site of Russell Simmons’ annual, star-studded Christmas party.
Rife with casually elegant options, St. Barth’s is also home to the legendary Isle de France. Now known as Cheval Blanc Isle de France, the impossibly French, eternally chic beachfront resort is one of the newest maisons gracing the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy portfolio of luxury hotels. Offering impeccable service delivered in grand LV style, weekly poolside fashion shows, gorgeous beaches and fine dining, Cheval Blanc is a grand dame in St. Barth’s. Combine that with the resort’s newly unveiled Guerlain Spa, and you’ll see why Cheval Blanc is an ideal spot to not only celebrate the holidays, but it’s also a fabulous place to recover from them.
Perpetually starry, deliciously sultry Mexico is another favorite celebrity destination for the holidays. Cindy Crawford and Randy Gerber, George Clooney and Amal’s south of the border neighbors, spent their family holidays in Los Cabos where snow is traded for warm sand to create an entirely different kind of ‘White Christmas’. With an array of luxury accommodations including the Esperanza and One & Only’s Palmilla Resort – not to mention a host of private and fractionally owned villas from which to choose – saying Feliz Navidad in Cabos is easier than ever before.
In Mayakoba, luxury is a private affair during the holidays and all year round. Case in point: the Rosewood Mayakoba where Princess Beatrice and boyfriend Dave Clark soaked up the sun with Hollywood royalty Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis in late 2015. Near the well-heeled playground of Playa del Carmen, Mayakoba is an enclave of elegance currently shared between Rosewood, Banyan Tree and Fairmont resorts. Late 2016 will bring Andaz to Mayakoba’s already luxe roster of accommodations, turning the trio into a lush foursome of high-end resorts.
